"Occupy Mars I.0" by C. Twomey
12 X 12”, acrylic and oil, on stretched canvas.
It’s no secret i’m fascinated with the solar system, and the planets, and the thought of living beyond earth. I can’t afford to hop on with Elon Musk, but I can dream, can’t I? I worked with High Flow Acrylics for this painting and a magic potion of ingredients. I loved the way the colors held up despite the large amount of swirling and surface to cover. So, will we occupy Mars? We’ll see.
This will be offered for sale soon.

"Two Palms On The Gulf" C. Twomey, Original Art
When I set up this morning it was the shadows and contrast that intrigued me. I’ve painted enough palms in the last few weeks to finally have the hang of their shapes and fronds. That’s the Gulf of Mexico beyond the old pier, where it’s too dangerous to swim due to the riptides. 12X12” on archival board.
"Jessie's Girl" Commission Completed
This very special art was created to hang in the office of a therapist who works with women who have eating disorders. The concept of self-love looms large, and the gold and copper swirls in the hair are a Celtic symbol that represents the strength of women. Acrylic on archival panel, with copper, gold and silver.
"Autumn Vermont Light" C. Twomey Now Offered
Just finished this piece after a visit to the Rochester area of Vermont. I wanted to capture the extraordinary contrast between the changing leaves and turbulent skies. The winters can be brutal there, but their falls are spectacular.
Bank of the Arts Competition Acceptance!
Pleased to announce this piece has been accepted into the national juried show, "Bank of the Arts." Almost 600 works were entered, only a few over 100 were accepted.
About the painting: That moment when you sense a nasty storm about to reach you, but you have no intention of moving. The electricity is in the air, there's no where to go, yet still you can't move. This is an acrylic painting, 12X12", original with pouring and hand painting.
My Cousin Julia!
Just got back from a super trip to Chicago to see my cousin perform her new one-woman show at Second City.
I love Julia; she is such an inspiration. She's funny as hell. I don't know how she does it! 90 - that's ninety minutes - of non-stop stories that kept the audience laughing, introspective and beyond engaged. From sex to Catholics to raising a teenager to everything in between, the night was precious and hilarious. Wish I could bottle that laughter!
Julia's daughter, Mulan, actually wrote and performed a song for the audience, and our family, at the end of Julia's performance. I was actually crying I was so touched!
Julia is taking the show on the road soon. Check out her website for upcoming performances and information about where and when:

You'll love it. Life needs to spent with laughter!

Two museums currently house my art: The William H. Benton Museum in Connecticut, and The LLoyd Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was a great honor to be asked to exhibit and I continue to add to their collections. Speaking of collections, my work is a part of hundreds of private collections worldwide.
I have studied with some of the best artistic and scientific minds in the world: fellow medical illustrators. Leonardo da Vinci is considered the first medical illustrator, and his knowledge, technical abilities and deep curiosity are benchmarks for the field. As a Board Certified Medical Illustrator, I have had the privilege to know and learn directly from some of the most extraordinarily talented, smart and influential visionaries living today.
Fine art influencers include Georgia O'Keefe, da Vinci, Rembrandt and Degas. I look to their struggles and triumphs, and their unflinching persistence.
Auction Ends: 2 Hours!

Advance Mills Hay Bales 1 |
Advance Mills was an old mill town about two miles from my home. The road, Advance Mills, is one of my favorites - twisty, turny, on a ridge - the views along it are so spectacular you really have to focus to stay on it. We looked at buying some of this land, so I spent a lot of time walking it and loved catching it at sunset. You can see why. I had to work fast. The woods behind were already dripped in shadow, with sky holes poking thru. What a glorious day.
Original 6 X 8" oil on archival linen board, unframed.
