“Jessie’s Girl” 18X24” Commission

This very special art was created to hang in the office of a therapist who works with women who have eating disorders. The concept of self-love looms large, and the gold and copper swirls in the hair are a Celtic symbol that represents the strength of women. Acrylic on archival panel, with copper, gold and silver.

Just finished this piece after a visit to the Rochester area of Vermont. I wanted to capture the extraordinary contrast between the changing leaves and turbulent skies. The winters can be brutal there, but their falls are spectacular.

"Saw Mill Hill Road, Vermont Autumn" by C. Twomey

Saw Mill Hill Road, Vermont Autumn”, 12X12”, acrylic

I painted this one outside. It was obviously a glorious day! The maples in Vermont are spectacular and with the wind I felt I needed to encourage movement via brushstrokes. Vermont in places can be so remote, but the peace is unmatched. And the air! It is so fresh, and this time of year the frost hits overnight and you can smell the night's fireplaces on an early morning walk.

Fall along Saw Mill Hill Road; Rochester, Vermont

It’s a wonderful time to get out into nature and hike. I shot the above image of my dog Moxie on a glorious fall day, and plan to start a painting tomorrow fueled by the beauty of Vermont.

Speaking of hiking, I recommend a new, well researched book on hiking by Jenny Hobby. It's a 5,000 word 'Ultimate Beginners Guide to Hiking' book that would be helpful for anyone looking to get started.

Feel free to check it out here: https://hobbyhelp.com/hiking/

Be Safe; What Has Florence Wrought?

Unfortunately the fate of these two pieces is unknown. My gallery opening was to be Friday, Sept. 14 in New Bern, North Carolina. This town was severely impacted by Hurricane Florence, as was, I’m pretty sure, the gallery, which was downtown. Here’s hoping for the best for the residents and my fellow artists! And if you see them floating by, please give me a ring…..
