Just a second ago, this was how the lake looked. Early morning light, nature and design combined. Then up came the wind, the rain is coming, and it's stick season.
Painting In Vermont During Leaf and Stick Season
It’s a wonderful time to get out into nature and hike. I shot the above image of my dog Moxie on a glorious fall day, and plan to start a painting tomorrow fueled by the beauty of Vermont.
Speaking of hiking, I recommend a new, well researched book on hiking by Jenny Hobby. It's a 5,000 word 'Ultimate Beginners Guide to Hiking' book that would be helpful for anyone looking to get started.
Feel free to check it out here: https://hobbyhelp.com/hiking/

"A Mood of Good" Sold
Painted this outside recently. The Vermont trees are starting to turn, with the reds first and some oranges starting to appear. It's just stunning.
Saw a grey fox down the road today, happily eating apples in the road. There's a steady rain today but it's not bringing me down - it's a day to stay inside (after the dog walk) and get things done.
Thank you to the collector from Germany for your purchase. Much appreciated!
Auction Ending Tomorrow! Original Oil by C. Twomey
"East Fall Blue Ridge No. 4" oil on linen board, C. Twomey Please Click HERE to view the AUCTION!
This 8 X 10" on archival board oil painting is from a series, the first of which won the nationally acclaimed "ArtInPlace" competition and was reproduced into a 12 X 24' mural along a busy highway in Charlottesville, VA. Can't get enough of the Blue Ridge mountains, especially in the fall. This view is from Skyline Drive, looking towards the east around sunset in the fall. I've painted it four times now, and that's still not enough! This particular painting is more luminous than previous works, as the technique evolves.

Just wanted to add a link to this post to a wonderful new guide written by Janice Rogers of Your RV Lifestyle: https://www.your-rv-lifestyle.com/best-things-to-do-in-virginia.html
It's well worth your time for a look if you're planning a visit to the beautiful state of Virginia!
. Had my paints, easel and an outrageously gorgeous day to capture the fall colors. I loved the layers of mountains dissipating in the distance. And the colors! The blues next to the oranges - irresistible. This took longer than expected, I think because I didn't want the day to end.
Original oil, 6 X 4" on archival linen board, unframed.

Sawmill Road Autumn Oil Painting
Fall Farm Entrance and the Yellow Gate
Just finished this commission. What a joy it was to paint. You get the last vestiges of fall in the bright orange maple leaves and bare branches. I had to do the right hand background three times before I was happy with it. Another lesson in "Less is More."
It's hard to imagine living in a place so beautiful, so ready to pull you in. This is an 8" X 10" on linen panel in a floater frame. The recipient was "Touched and delighted." Thank you!
