Slowly recovering from some foot surgery. Got a good prognosis from the doctor on Thursday, but two more weeks of slow walking and elevating. In the meantime, the kids next door are getting ready for school and the garden is looking weary. This beautiful stalk popped up this week and I had to paint its portrait. I will miss the flowers, but the Black Eyed Susan’s are going strong.
“Rose And Water”, watercolor, 11 X 9”
Haven’t been able to paint much after having foot surgery July 30th. Third surgery on my left leg, and hopefully the last. I inherited some wayward bones that had to be put back in their place. All went well and hopefully going to get back into the swing of things soon.
Note: I have an added respect for people who have to use walkers to get around.
Best,
Catherine

SO THANKFUL to the Colorado collector of “East Fall Blue Ridge 3.0” print from:

and on my B-Day, no less. Really appreciative! Kind of makes up for the fact that it’s been pouring all day.
12X12” on canvas, oil and acrylic, will be offered for sale soon.
Do you remember the Apollo missions? The day Armstrong stepped on the moon? Clear as a bell - I do, and those days were full of possibilities. We can get back there. “Manifesto series: Europe, Africa and the other side of the world.”

Work in Progress; 18X24”, acrylics and oil
The summer heat is here, and with it an unsettled mood. Getting that energy out onto the canvas is the only thing that relieves the pressure. I’m imagining the earth crunching, moving, shifting and changing. There’s the warm and the cool in flux, in contention.
Or maybe it’s because I’m having foot surgery in 2 weeks. That would unsettle anyone.
“Blue Marble Earth 2.0” 12X12”, acrylic and oil on canvas
Thank you to the collectors from Germany for commissioning this work! So glad that you “love it” !
Original oil, 18 X 24” on RayMar archival board, in progress
Days like today are difficult to match. I hunkered down right in my front yard, amidst the flowers, bees and various critters (including interested neighbors!). Thank goodness for the umbrella! I’ve been waiting for these flowers since spring, and they’ve gained twice their size since last summer. Nothing like a little fertilizer to make for happy plants. I’ll post the final when I’m finished.

“Buck Mountain Vineyard” by C. Twomey
Thank you profusely to the designer who purchased a print from Fine Art America.
A bit of background: Driving along Buck Mountain road as the sun was starting to head down, I pulled off the road as I had to get this sight down. The most stunning view of the day - the vines, the mist in the Blue Ridge mountain valley's, the way the sun blasted the foliage. No wonder I love this place - this landscape view is about five minutes from my house and has brought me great peace and happiness.
Catherine Twomey sold a 23.625" x 30.000" print on DesignerPrints.com! https://designerprints.com/saleannouncement.html?id=64f8db80dc54ae7b2bd21a1f841c8c4c via @fineartamerica
So grateful to the French collector! This piece is from the Manifesto Series. I am deeply moved by natural earth forces, and I started this series with a new approach to applying fluid paint to landscapes. It’s become more entrenched then that, with a look at the primordial forces beneath the mountains, trees and oceans. It’s a consideration of the fact that humans can’t control everything, but that we can affect the earth in a profound way.

So grateful to the collector from Charlottesville, VA for their print purchase of "Liquid Gladiolus." This years crop of glads is just starting to form the flowers, but can't wait until they bloom for more painting sessions!

12 X 12”, acrylic with metallics on gallery wrap canvas.
Getting a good start on a new earth as a part of the Manifesto series. Trying some new flow medium and viscosities. These paintings are so freeing and unpredictable - and that’s a good thing.
Got some beautific blues and silvers lined up for work on a commission. Very excited to get going and recreate the earth. Did I mention I like blues? And the earth?
My piece "Tomales Trail, Point Reyes National Seashore" as featured on the i.d.e.a. Museum's exhibition notice. Thrilled to be a part of the show - it begins June 14 in Mesa, AZ!
