"Dogwood Herd" Oil by C. Twomey
When I moved to Asheville, North Carolina, in 2016, I had no idea what was going to come up in the spring garden. As a nature-loving gardener, however, I knew the long-neglected property needed a lot of tender loving care to be brought back to life. I nurtured a small, scraggly dogwood in the front yard - and it thrived. I've been working on my oil painting, aiming for more translucency and texture. I've been painting abstracts for a while, but for some strange reason I only want to paint realistically now - just the facts, Jack. Boy what a difference the correct brushes make! This "Dogwood Herd" is 6 X 6" and custom framed, on archival board. These dogwood blossoms were right from the home-grown garden and posed very patiently. Neither of us had anywhere else to go - pandemic and all - so we spent several days exchanging oxygen and contemplating the current state of affairs. This painting is beautifully custom framed in a greenish-green patina. It is ready to hang.

Enjoying The Summer: Gladiolus & Echinacea, Work In Progress
Original oil, 18 X 24” on RayMar archival board, in progress
Days like today are difficult to match. I hunkered down right in my front yard, amidst the flowers, bees and various critters (including interested neighbors!). Thank goodness for the umbrella! I’ve been waiting for these flowers since spring, and they’ve gained twice their size since last summer. Nothing like a little fertilizer to make for happy plants. I’ll post the final when I’m finished.
A Mother's Day Work For A Friend
A gift for a dear friend, there's something special about the top vistas of the blue ridge. This is an unusually large (for me) work that demanded simplicity and depth.
A Successful Tour! Thank You!
I have been asked to show again at Mud Dauber Pottery in Earlysville, VA and am working on getting into another show at a downtown gallery.
Your support is priceless and irreplaceable. Thank you.

Artisan's Studio Tour Mud Dauber, Earlysville VA
Free Union Library
Today's the day of the Artisan's Studio Tour here in the Charlottesville, VA area. It's going to be a GORGEOUS fall day, and I've added some new paintings to my one-person show up in Earlysville a Suzanne Crane's Mud Dauber Pottery. Grab some friends and tour the absolutely stunning countryside of Virginia while visiting artist's studios and enjoying appetizers and drinks. What better way to spend the day?
I loved this old library/residence in Free Union, VA, established 1781. It's very near the Country School, and the touch of fall was evident in the light and colors. Free Union and the northern Albemarle area has some deep history, with many of the original buildings remaining.

One Person Show Oct. 13 thru the 2012 Holidays
We are still working out the opening times, but I'll update soon. I've spent much of the summer out and about the beautiful area where I live, Earlysville, Virginia, painting the old farms, service stations, white oak trees, etc., and this is the culmination of that effort.
Suzanne Crane is an exquisite potter and owner of Mud Dauber Pottery. She has generously agreed to host my original oil paintings in her large studio. The works will be available for viewing through the Christmas Holidays.
Hope you can make it!
